In Fall 2020, we opened a new venture in the 14th street corridor: Jônt. An 17-seat intimate dining experience that serves a progressive tasting menu in the pursuit of dynamic flavor profiles. This innovative ‘food lab’ pushes the boundaries of traditional dining. And after being open for only eight months, we have been awarded two stars since the 2021 DC Michelin Guide.

After a pandemic-induced hiatus, the Michelin Guide is back handing out its stars in America, announcing DC recipients today. In the guide, Jônt made a pretty remarkable showing, debuting with two stars, despite being open less than a year. “Chef Ryan Ratino’s talents have impressed the inspection team for years from his work at Ripple in 2017 followed by Bresca,” Michelin’s anonymous chief inspector in North America told Robb Report. “What he and his team are doing at Jônt consistently impressed our team over the course of several meals during the inspection process, and his new venture delivers a meal experience that is indicative of cuisine at the two-star level.”

This restaurant marks a new beginning for DC culinary prestige on the national and international stages. There is much more to its future yet to be written. For its reverence for the timelessness of culinary tradition with an unwavering dedication to the best ingredients possible, Jônt is prognosticated to become a destination dining establishment that guests will long remember and savor after the experience is over.

THE HUNGRY GLOMAD

Akin to stumbling into a gem off the beaten path, [Jônt] is abuzz with sedulous activity and the highly technical cooking is exemplary indeed.

The staff glide about seamlessly, perhaps to the beat of hip hop, delivering dishes that are creative, bold, and beautiful. The meal is awe-inspiring from start to finish, as in a rye tart with crème fraîche and zucchini, or bluefin tuna deliciously mingled with maitake mushrooms and black truffles. The heart of this menu however lies in its carefully handled top-shelf ingredients.
